Schwarzman Scholars is a highly selective, one-year master’s program at Tsinghua University in Beijing that is designed to prepare the next generation of global leaders for the challenges of the future. Students will live and study together on the campus of Schwarzman College, a newly-built, state-of-the-art facility, where all classes (except for Chinese Language classes) will be taught in English. All scholars will recieve a Master’s Degree in Global Affairs following completion of the program.

The scholarship provides: tuition, fees, room and board, travel to and from Beijing at the beginning and end of the academic year, an in-country study tour, required course books and supplies, a Lenovo laptop and smartphone, health insurance, and a modest personal stipend.

Required Application Materials:

  • A complete and successfully submitted online application, including the requested personal statement(s) and supplementary components below.
  • Uploaded transcripts/academic records from every college or university attended (degree or non-degree, full or part-time, undergraduate or graduate). If transcripts are not in English, official translations must be included.
  • Three electronic letters of recommendation. At least one of these letters must come from a recommended who has had direct experience with the candidate and can describe the candidate’s leadership potential. Recommendations must be translated to English by a professional translator if written in another language.
  • Video: Please provide a short video self-introduction of no more than one minute. Introduce yourself as if you were at a business meeting, and all participants at the table were introducing themselves to the group. You will provide a link to the video that you have created. This video is optional but it is strongly recommended.
  • An essay in two sections (see website for details): Leadership Essay (up to 750 words) and Statement of Purpose (up to 500 words).
  • Two short answer questions of no more than 100 words each
  • Current resume/CV
