The National and International Fellowships and Scholarships (NIFS) office, administered by the Honors College, helps interested undergraduate and graduate students to pursue major national and international opportunities by providing information and direct support throughout the competitive application processes. Position Description
The NIFS office seeks a faculty member or academic specialist to serve as the Writing Faculty Fellow for summer and/or academic year 2023-2024. The Faculty Fellow will support students applying for prestigious awards and faculty who write recommendations. We have needs for summer and/or the 2023-2024 academic year. An office is available for the Faculty Fellow in Bessey Hall.
Responsibilities
- Provide feedback on applicants’ materials including early versions and final submissions
- Provide feedback on letters of recommendation
- Assist with templates for letters of recommendation
- Assist with recruiting students for NIFS awards in collaboration
- Assist with occasional NIFS workshops and Honors College special programming
Eligibility
- Michigan State University faculty or academic specialist (must have approval from departmental chair or supervisor)
- Experience mentoring students for conference proposals, graduate school applications and/or awards
- Demonstrated scholarly record (publications, grants, research, awards)
Compensation
Compensation is flexible and could include:
- Summer Salary Support
- Academic year – overload pay or potential support for course release
