EAST LANSING, Mich. – Michigan State University has nominated five undergraduate students and an alumna for the U.S. Rhodes Scholarship.
The Rhodes Scholarship is the oldest and perhaps most prestigious international scholarship program, enabling outstanding young people from around the world to study at the University of Oxford. The U.S. Rhodes Scholarship awards 32 scholarships. MSU has produced 20 Rhodes Scholars.
The results of this competition will be determined in the coming months. MSU’s nominees for the U.S. Rhodes Scholarship are:
- Caroline Downes, a 2024 Honors College graduate with majors in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology in Lyman Briggs College; and Anthropology in the College of Social Science.
- Jerome Hamilton Jr., an Honors College senior majoring in Political Science in the College of Social Science.
- Belma Hodžić, an Honors College senior majoring in Comparative Cultures and Politics in James Madison College, and World Politics in the College of Social Science.
- Caroline (Colby) Orcutt, an Honors College senior majoring in Kinesiology in the College of Education.
- Abigail Rodriguez, an Honors College senior majoring in Art and Humanities in the Residential College in the Arts and Humanities, and Political Science Pre-Law in the College of Social Science.
- Rachel Schenck, an Honors College senior majoring in Materials Science and Mechanical Engineering in the College of Engineering.
