Five Michigan State University students, alumna nominated for prestigious Rhodes Scholarship

EAST LANSING, Mich. – Michigan State University has nominated five undergraduate students and an alumna for the U.S. Rhodes Scholarship.  

The Rhodes Scholarship is the oldest and perhaps most prestigious international scholarship program, enabling outstanding young people from around the world to study at the University of Oxford. The U.S. Rhodes Scholarship awards 32 scholarships. MSU has produced 20 Rhodes Scholars. 

The results of this competition will be determined in the coming months. MSU’s nominees for the U.S. Rhodes Scholarship are:   

  • Jerome Hamilton Jr., an Honors College senior majoring in Political Science in the College of Social Science. 
  • Belma Hodžić, an Honors College senior majoring in Comparative Cultures and Politics in James Madison College, and World Politics in the College of Social Science. 
  • Caroline (Colby) Orcutt, an Honors College senior majoring in Kinesiology in the College of Education
