Garrett King, an Honors College senior majoring in physics in the College of Natural Science, has been nominated by Michigan State University for the Churchill Scholarship – a nationally competitive STEM scholarship that pays for graduate school in the United Kingdom.
Established in 1959, the Winston Churchill Foundation’s Scholarship Program offers 14 American students of exceptional ability and outstanding achievement the opportunity to pursue graduate degrees in engineering, mathematics, or the sciences in Churchill College at the University of Cambridge in England.
While pursuing minors in French and mathematics, King has worked as an undergraduate researcher in a variety of capacities. He previously worked for the National Superconducting Cyclotron Laboratory and College of Arts & Letters, and currently works for Assistant Professor Kendall Mahn in the Department of Physics and Astronomy.
“Garrett’s research experience will prepare him for graduate school and beyond,” said Cynthia Jackson-Elmoore, dean of the MSU Honors College. “We thank the faculty who have served as mentors to Garrett congratulate him for earning the university nomination for the Churchill Scholarship.”
The National and International Fellowships and Scholarships (NIFS) Office, administered by the Honors College, helps interested undergraduate and graduate students pursue major national and international opportunities by providing information and direct support throughout the competitive application processes.
MSU has produced 18 Churchill Scholars.
