Six Michigan State University students, two alumni nominated for prestigious Marshall Scholarship

EAST LANSING, Mich. – Michigan State University has nominated six undergraduate students and two alumni for the Marshall Scholarship, which provides support to approximately 50 of the most outstanding undergraduates in the country to study at any university in the United Kingdom. MSU has produced 20 Marshall Scholars to date. 

The results of this competition will be determined in the coming months.

MSU’s nominees for the Marshall Scholarship are: 

Caroline Downes, a 2024 Honors College graduate with majors in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology in Lyman Briggs College, and Anthropology in the College of Social Science. 

Jerome Hamilton Jr., an Honors College senior majoring in Political Science in the College of Social Science.  

Belma Hodžić, an Honors College senior majoring in Comparative Cultures and Politics in James Madison College, and World Politics in the College of Social Science. 

Sydney Logsdon, an Honors College senior majoring in English in the College of Arts & Letters, and Environmental Studies and Sustainability in the College of Agriculture & Natural Resources. 

Abigail Rodriguez, an Honors College senior majoring in Art and Humanities in the Residential College in the Arts and Humanities, and Political Science Pre-Law in the College of Social Science.  

Mariam Sayed, a 2022 Honors College graduate with majors in Physiology in the College of Natural Science, and French in the College of Arts & Letters. 

Rachel Schenck, an Honors College senior majoring in Materials Science and Mechanical Engineering in the College of Engineering 

Grace Urban, an Honors College senior majoring in Genomics and Molecular Genetics in Lyman Briggs College.
